dicentra Global Certifications (dicentra GC), an ISO 17065 accredited certification body, will be speaking on the panel discussion “Cannabis Edibles: Understanding the Risks and Regulations” at 2019 SQF Conference.
The panel will focus on the current risks and regulations of cannabis as a dietary supplement or food ingredient and how it will affect current and future SQF certified sites. Speakers will discuss how retailers, manufacturers, and food service companies will need to take note of the coming cannabis food regulations and the requirements for different geographic regions. Companies and sites need to be aware of the potential hazards and which control measures to apply.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to take part in this panel and proud to be an SQF stakeholder especially at a time when edibles are increasingly growing in popularity and acceptance throughout North America. It’s important that the industry is proactive with this new class of product. Despite your position on the legality of cannabis, it’s the industry’s priority to ensure that these products are held to the same rigorous standards of consumption as other food products. SQF is working to ensure that edibles containing cannabis will be safe for consumers,” said Dejan Spasic, Director of Food Safety Quality, dicentra Global Certifications.
Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM
Dejan Spasic, Director of Food Safety Quality, dicentra Global Certifications, will also be moderating a Knowledge Swap on “Processing of Manufactured Meats and Poultry” on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM.
