Deadline to Renew Food Facilities Registration with the FDA Extended Until January 31, 2013

All domestic and foreign facilities that manufacture, process, pack or hold food for human or animal consumption in the U.S. must register their facility with the FDA. Since 2003, food facilities have been required to register with the FDA. However, a new requirement of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requires all food facilities, including dietary supplement companies, to renew their registration. The initial deadline to renew was December 31, 2012. However, as a result of the FDA’s delay to implement the renewal process until October 22, 2013, the FDA is extending the deadline to register until January 31, 2013.
