Position: Qualified Investigator (MD) for Clinical Trials Oversight (Part time per-project basis)

Location: 603-7 St Thomas St., Toronto, ON


Description: Seeking a GP Physician (Ontario) to serve as Qualified Investigator, overseeing nutraceutical clinical trials. This position requires medical liaison and part time availability at our Yorkville area site on a per project basis.


• Performs the duties of a Principal Investigator for nutraceutical / NHP clinical research trials (typically Phase II or III)
• Performs duties in accordance with the highest standard of ICH-GCP compliance that upholds participant safety and protocol integrity
• Reviews and interprets clinical analyses including but not limited to laboratory results, medical history data, and other analyses regarding potential and enrolled study participants to evaluate eligibility and/or ongoing participation
• Reviews medical histories and performs basic physical examinations
• Oversees auxiliary tasks delegated to research site staff and maintains delegation log and other pertinent ISF documents
• Coordinates with clinical staff to ensure protocol integrity throughout the trial lifecycle
• Maintains familiarity with responsibilities of a Principal Investigator as per ICH-GCP guidelines.
• Serves as consultant in the new project feasibility phase, quoting process, and protocol design (internal and sponsor – provided)
• Functions as an integral member of the site team offering medical and protocol-specific guidance
• Provide medical input as required
• Ensure compliance with applicable research site SOP’s
• Consistently upholds participant wellbeing and research integrity
• Execute other duties as may be required by the site management (e.g., phlebotomy)


• M.D. Current Medical License in Ontario
• Previous experience in a clinical research environment in a Sub-Investigator or Principal Investigator role
• Proficient in standard venipuncture / phlebotomy
• Broad knowledge of general medicine with preferred interest in natural health products / research of same
• Current CPR certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification desirable
• Ability to apply critical thinking to make informed decisions with a focus on participant wellbeing and data quality
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing to stakeholders, site staff and participants
• Proficient in reading, writing, and mathematical operations
• Proficient in MS Office as well as communication tools (Outlook etc.) and clinic management databases
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, and able to multi-task / prioritize to meet deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and bed-side manner skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
