Bookkeeper

Position: Bookkeeper

Location: 603-7 St Thomas St., Toronto, ON

 

Position Summary:

The bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the company by accurately recording the day-to-day financial transactions of the company. Overall, precision and timeliness are key to ensuring that financial records are accounted for and processed so the “gears of the company” keep turning smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Check and verify source documents such as invoices and receipts
  • Reconcile business data from various areas and balance all accounts
  • Prepare financial statements as required (trial balance, income statement, balance sheet)
  • Collate and analyze account data
  • Maintain internal control and accountability systems
  • Administer accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Prepare checks, payments, and bank deposit
  • Assist in payroll, if required
  • Comply with relevant reporting requirements
  • Calculate and prepare tax payments
  • Assist with budget preparation
  • Assist with year-end preparation
  • Maintain a complete filing system to support financial records
  • Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education, such as a Diploma in Accounting, required
  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role, required
  • Familiarity with Canadian GAAP, required
  • Familiarity with working with other currencies, such as USD, preferred
  • Use of software, such as QuickBooks (online and desktop) and MS Office Suite, required
  • Ability to operate with discretion and under limited supervision, seeking direction when needed
